Hi, my name is
Mason Lancaster.
I build things for the web.
I’m a software engineer who is addicted to learning and delights in collaborating. I love bringing ideas to glorious, pixel-perfect, full-stack fruition.
About Me
I’m a highly motivated, detail-oriented software engineer who is addicted to learning and delights in collaborating. I love bringing ideas to pixel-perfect full-stack fruition through innovative solutions to challenging issues. I currently work as a software engineer in higher education, developing full stack solutions for a variety of stakeholders with a special focus on Workday, Java, and AWS. With a background in education, tech, and customer service, I have a strong foundation in critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and collaboration which I leverage to deliver excellent software products that enrich lives.
In other news, I like coffee, riding my bike 🚴🏻♂️ painfully long distances, and researching, publishing, and teaching in the humanities (that other world!). But for things more relevant to coding, check out my repos or the links below.
Here are a few technologies I’ve been working with recently:
- AWS Certified Developer - Associate
- Python
- Java
- JavaScript (ES6+)
- React
- Workday Pro (Studio + Integrations)
- Node.js
- Express.js
- MongoDB
- Django
- PostgreSQL
- MySQL
- HTML
- CSS
- Bootstrap
- Tailwind

Where I’ve Worked
Software Engineer II @ Point Loma Nazarene University
April 2025 – Present
- Led development of an AI-driven Slack chatbot to solve knowledge discovery challenges across the department by enabling conversational access to TeamDynamix knowledge base content. Built using AWS Bedrock and other AI tools, the solution improved self-service rates and significantly reduced repetitive support inquiries.
- Enabled managers and CIOs to efficiently review and take action on requests directly within Slack by designing and implementing a Slack-based change request approval system that streamlines a previously email-driven process, reducing approval turnaround time significantly. Built on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, CDK) and integrated with TeamDynamix.
